Can I still apply to CEGEP?

Yes, in some cases. If you meet CEGEP’s general admission requirements but are missing certain prerequisites or are still unsure about which program to choose, the Springboard to a DCS pathway may be a good option for you. It can help you complete missing prerequisites, explore different fields of study, make the transition from high school to CEGEP easier, or gradually return to school. To find out whether this pathway is right for you, contact the CEGEP you are interested in.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
I have specific needs related to a health condition or learning disability. Can I get help?

Yes. Educational institutions have a legal obligation to provide services tailored to students with a condition recognized by a healthcare professional and requiring special support measures. If you have a learning disability, ADHD, an anxiety disorder, or another condition, you may be eligible for accommodations.

The accommodations offered may include extra time for exams, the use of assistive technology, note-taking assistance, and specialized support.

To find out about available services and the steps you need to take, contact your institution’s adapted services office or student assistance centre as soon as you are admitted. They can help you put in place measures that will support your success.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What services are available to First Nations and Inuit students in CEGEPs and universities?

CEGEPs and universities offer a wide range of services, including:

Gathering spaces

Cultural support

Community activities

Mentoring

Support from specialized staff

Services that promote academic success and wellness

Since resources vary from one institution to another, you are encouraged to contact the Indigenous student services office or the student life office at the institution you are interested in. Identifying yourself as a First Nations or Inuit student in your admission application is a way of letting the institution know you want information about the resources, programs, and support measures available to you.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Can I drop a course if things are not going as planned?

Yes. It is generally possible to drop a course without getting a failing grade, provided you meet the deadline set by your institution.

Before making this decision, it is recommended that you speak with your educational advisor, your program director or coordinator, a guidance counsellor, or another resource person. They can help you understand how it could affect your academic path, your financial aid, and the courses you will need to take afterward.

At CEGEP, it is usually possible to drop a course up to 60% of the way through the course or semester. An “AE” notation – meaning withdrawal without failure – may appear on your transcript, but this is not considered a failing grade.

At university, withdrawal deadlines vary depending on the institution and semester. They are usually announced at the beginning of the semester and listed in the academic calendar. If you are considering dropping a course, be sure to check the applicable rules and deadlines with your institution.

If your community is funding your studies, it is also important to check the applicable rules with the education department. Some communities require students to maintain a minimum number of courses or full-time student status to keep their financial assistance.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Can I be admitted to a DVS program even if I do not have all the secondary school prerequisites?

Yes. Depending on your age, experience, and the program you are interested in, there may be other ways to be admitted to vocational training, even if you do not have all the required high school prerequisites.

For example, some people may be admitted after passing the general aptitude test or based on other admission criteria established by the Ministère or the school.

Admission requirements vary depending on the program and the vocational training centre. Be sure to contact the institution offering the DVS program you are interested in or speak with a guidance counsellor to learn about your options.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Can I study at a pace that works for me?

Yes. If your course load feels too heavy or if you would like to take more time to complete your program, it is often possible to tailor your studies to your needs.

At CEGEP, an educational advisor can help you plan your academic path. For example, you may be able to lighten your schedule, spread certain courses over a longer period, or adjust your path to support your success. Every situation is unique. If you have concerns about your workload or your life balance, talk to your educational advisor.

Some university programs allow you to pursue studies on a part-time basis. If your program offers this option, contact the program director or program administrator for help in planning your path. If you receive financial assistance from your community, check with the education department to find out the requirements you must meet, including the minimum number of courses required to maintain your financial assistance.

To maintain your student status in your program, you must generally be enrolled in at least one course per year. Three consecutive semesters without enrolment may result in your file in the program being closed.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Am I eligible for accommodation if an unexpected circumstance prevents me from completing a course?

Do not wait to ask for help. Even if the withdrawal deadline has passed, contact your educational advisor, a guidance counsellor, or another member of the support staff as soon as possible.

Certain exceptional circumstances, such as a health issue, a death, family difficulties, or an unexpected event beyond your control, may entitle you to special accommodations. Solutions may be available to help minimize the impact on your academic path.

Some institutions may grant an “IN” notation – meaning permanent incomplete – when a serious situation prevents a student from completing a course. This notation is generally not considered a failing grade. However, eligibility criteria and the steps to follow vary between institutions.

If you are experiencing a difficult situation, the most important thing is to seek help quickly to find out what your options are.

</details>

["post-517","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
